Edittext is a widget that behaves like the Text widget, but while Text is fixed, Edittext can be changed.

This tutorial supposes the reader is familiar with the Text widget

Essentially, Edittext are two different widgets:

  • the widget that takes an input text from the user
  • the widget that outputs a text to the user

The difference between the input and the output text in the Edittext widget is the declaration of readonly (or not) in the declaration of the widget. An Edittext that is declared with readonly is used for output, otherwise it can be used for input (and also for output).

In both cases, the way to access the text field of the widget after it was initialized is by Action, using the member .text of the object.
